The True Cost of Craftsmanship: Why My Prices Are Changing

From Humble Beginnings
For over 12 years, I’ve been dedicated to creating high-quality, Canadian-made jewelry—pieces designed to be worn every day, cherished for a lifetime, and passed down as heirlooms. Every piece is crafted with precision, using responsibly sourced materials, and made right here in Canada—a commitment to quality and local craftsmanship that sets my work apart in a world of mass production. I've been featured in Canadian publications such as the Globe and Mail, LouLou Magazine, Western Living Magazine, and Merrymen Magazine - all of which have helped me to grow into the integrity-driven brand I so proudly stand behind today.
Being proudly Canadian-made means more than just where my jewelry is created or who talks about it. It’s about the journey I’ve taken to share my work with people across the country. From Vancouver to Toronto, I’ve traveled nearly coast to coast, bringing my jewelry to some of the biggest artisan markets and design shows, connecting with customers face-to-face, and building a community that values independent, handcrafted work. Beyond in-person events, I’ve also spent years growing an incredible online following—bringing the experience of discovering unique, handcrafted jewelry to people no matter where they are. Through social media, my website, and my Insiders community, I’ve built a space where customers can shop with confidence, knowing they’re investing in quality, expertise, and craftsmanship that stands the test of time. However, after more than a decade, it’s time for an update.
What’s Changing and Why
On March 15, the prices of stacking rings, gemstone earrings, mantra, and select gemstone necklaces will be increasing. This isn’t a decision I’ve made lightly, but it’s one that’s necessary to continue offering the quality and craftsmanship you expect.
Here’s why:
-
The Cost of Silver and Gold is Rising
The price of silver has been climbing, and gold—well, let’s just say it’s on a whole other level. Keeping prices frozen while material costs surge simply isn’t sustainable. -
Supply Chain Challenges
Global tariffs, particularly from the U.S., have added uncertainty to the cost and availability of materials. -
The Reality of Running a Small Business
Rent keeps rising, and the cost of doing business—from insurance to shipping—only goes up. If I want to keep designing and producing my work, I need to ensure my business is financially sustainable, which includes paying myself a fair and reasonable wage.
Investing in Expertise and Innovation
Jewelry isn’t just about materials—it’s about skill, precision, and the years of experience behind every piece. I’ve invested deeply in my craft, including elite goldsmith training under Blaine Lewis at the New Approach School for Jewelers in Tennessee, where I honed advanced stone setting, metallurgy, and fine finishing techniques.
Beyond traditional goldsmithing, I’ve also invested in cutting-edge 3D design and printing technology, which allows me to push creative boundaries and bring intricate designs to life with incredible precision. This level of innovation requires not only extensive training but also expensive software, constant upgrades, and specialized tools to ensure every piece is flawless.
My expertise also extends to advanced casting techniques, a crucial step in transforming raw metal into beautifully detailed designs. Casting isn’t just about melting metal and pouring it into a mold—it requires precision, temperature control, and an understanding of metallurgy to achieve the perfect balance of strength and detail. Every piece I cast is carefully refined, ensuring crisp edges, smooth surfaces, and a finish that highlights the artistry behind the design.
Once cast, polishing and finishing bring each piece to life. I use high-end (expensive) polishing equipment and multi-stage finishing processes to achieve a mirror-like shine, a soft satin glow, or a beautifully textured surface—whatever best enhances the design. This isn’t a quick buff; it’s a meticulous process that ensures your jewelry looks just as stunning years from now as it does the day you receive it.
And then, there’s the delicate detailing—engraving, stone setting, and hand-finishing techniques that require a steady hand and an expert eye. Whether it’s setting a tiny gemstone securely in place, engraving meaningful words, or refining intricate patterns, these details are what turn a piece of jewelry into something truly special.
Unlike mass-produced jewelry, every step of my process—from 3D design and casting to polishing and final detailing—is handled with care, expertise, and the highest quality standards (by a real human being). And as I continue to refine my techniques, invest in better tools, and adapt to industry changes, I want to ensure that I can keep producing the pieces you love without cutting corners.

The Value of Handcrafted, Canadian-Made Jewelry
In a world of fast fashion and mass production, it’s easy to lose sight of what quality truly costs. Every piece I make is thoughtfully designed, handcrafted, and built to last. From responsibly sourced metals to meticulous finishing techniques, I take pride in every detail.
Raising prices isn’t just about covering costs—it’s about continuing to create jewelry that means something, made with care, skill, and integrity.
